Captain Roulston savours league title triumph

Ramelton Mariners captain Eoin Roulston couldn’t help but smile after his side scored a late equaliser to take the Old Orchard Saturday Division 2 title.

Ballybofey United took the lead thanks to Kieran Thompson’s first half goal but the Mariners, only needing a point to secure the title, did so in spectacular fashion as Shay Callan-McFadden poked home to level in added time and take home the trophy.

“It was massive to get the goal in the last couple of minutes,” Roulston said.

“Obviously it wasn’t the start we wanted but we went in at half-time, had our heads up and fought hard and got over the line in the end thank God.”
