Sean Mac An Ultaigh
SEAN Mac An Ultaigh only started playing Gaelic Football last year, but he’s hoping to captain Coláiste Ailigh to All-Ireland glory this weekend.
Mac An Ultaigh dabbled in a bit of soccer, before linking up with the Termon minor squad last year.
He missed out on silverware with his club, but has already lifted two cups this year, and is hoping to bring the Br Edmund Ignatius Cup back to Letterkenny this week.
“I’m really enjoying my football with Termon and I only started last year,” said the midfielder.
“We got to the county final, but unfortunately we didn’t win. Hopefully we will have better luck this week.
“This is my first time being captain and it’s a great achievement.
“It’s exciting leading up to the final, and there is a good atmosphere in school. Everyone is looking forward to Saturday.”
The 18-year-old is in his final year at the school, and joked that the Leaving Cert was a distraction ahead of this final.
There were plenty of laughs as they posed for pictures ahead of the final, and it was clear that the side have a close bond.
That is also evident on the pitch and Mac An Ultaigh says they have strength throughout their team.
“We have a great bunch of lads and a very balanced team. We don’t really rely on anyone in particular.
“All 15 players and the subs can make an impact on the game.”
