CAPPRY Rovers and Milford United find themselves at opposite ends of the Premier Division table, but their need for points will be at a similar level when they clash at Cappry Park on Sunday at 12 noon.
Milford are second from bottom in the league and are in a relegation dogfight to try and stay up.
Cappry, on the other hand, are third in the league. They are two points behind Kilmacrennan Celtic and Castelfinn Celtic, although they do have a game in hand on Castlefinn.
Paddy McNulty, who manages Cappry along with Seamus Doherty, says his team will push until the end, but he conceded that they will be up against it to land the league crown.
“To be honest when we were able to come back we just said we would take it one game at a time and try and gear up for our (Brian McCormick) Cup semi-final with Bonagee.
“I thought that the league was just that little bit out of reach for us and I still think it is.
“It’s Kilmacrennan’s to lose now and Castlefinn are probably in the best position if they slip up.
“We have a tough game against Milford and then two away matches so I think we have too much to do.
“But we will keep going and doing our best and if we fall short in the league, at least it will be good preparation for the cup semi-final.”
Milford have struggled all season, and on paper, it looks like a comfortable home victory.
However, McNulty is wary because he appreciates that they are desperate for the points too.
“You’d nearly rather play the teams further up the table now than the teams at the bottom because they are fighting for their lives.
“I’ve never seen a league like it with three teams on ten points at the bottom.
“Usually at this stage, at least one team has been relegated.
“We played Milford earlier in the year and beat them 3-2 but they went ahead in that game and could have beaten us that day. So we’re expecting another tough one.”
