Call for ‘weather beaten’ Long Lane to be resurfaced

A LETTERKENNY Councillor has called for the Long Lane to be fully resurfaced.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle raised the motion at the recent meeting of Letterkenny Milford Municipal District and said the busy road which serves a large number of housing estates, is in need of full resurfacing works.

He said works had been carried out on the road, but a resurfacing was required to bring it up to standard.

“Winter has taken its toil on the road and it is deteriorating.

“The road needs a full job done.

“There has already been a lot of patching work done to the road but more needs to be done due to the volume of traffic that uses it daily.

“It is getting into bad shape,” said Cllr McMonagle.

A spokesperson for the Council said, “The Roads Restoration Improvement programme for 2023 has been agreed.

“This section of road can be consideration for prioritising for the 2024 Restoration Improvement programme.

“In the short term Routine Maintenance works will be carried out.”
