ST. EUNAN’S Cathedral in Letterkenny is preparing to host the Relics of St. Bernadette from Friday, October 11 to Sunday 13 and volunteers are urgently needed to assist with the large-scale event.
This sacred occasion will feature a variety of religious services, including Masses, public prayers, confessions, and night vigils, drawing visitors from across Donegal and beyond.
The visit begins on Friday, October 11 at noon with a Liturgy of Welcome and Veneration of the Relics.
Throughout the weekend, attendees will have opportunities to participate in prayers such as the Station of the Cross and the Rosary
Procession, while several Masses, including one for the Anointing of the Sick, will also be held. The event will culminate in a Solemn Mass on Sunday at noon, after which the relics will depart for Derry.
Given the significance of this event, volunteers from across the Diocese are needed to help make it a success. The organisers are calling for individuals to assist with a number of roles, including supporting the Hospitality Tent, where volunteers will ensure a welcoming experience for all visitors.
Singers and musicians are also being sought to add their talents to the various Masses, prayers, and processions throughout the weekend.
Additionally, parish groups from all parts of the Diocese are invited to contribute by covering shifts during the event.
Volunteers are especially needed during the Night Vigils, which will take place on both Friday and Saturday nights, from 11pm to early morning.
Even offering one hour of support during these vigils will be a great help.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Parish Office on 074 912 1021 to learn more or sign up for a role.
Whether assisting in the Hospitality Tent, sharing musical talents, or helping during the vigils, volunteers will play a key part in making this religious gathering a meaningful and memorable experience.
Attendees are reminded to prepare any petitions ahead of time to save time during their visit, and no money should be placed with petitions, as all will be sent directly to Lourdes.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live from the Cathedral via churchservices.tv/letterkenny.
