Call for extended opening hours at Milford Library

CALLS have been made for extended opening hours at Milford Library, which currently is only open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tabling a motion on the subject at a meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council, Cllr. Declan Meehan noted the success of the community resource which had approximately 10,000 visitors last year.

However, the official response that he received stated that, as things stand, the addition of more opening hours in Milford would mean reducing services at the Central Library in Letterkenny.

He was also informed that in addition to the public opening hours for Milford Library, other services are also provided. For example, it engages with and provides reading material to local preschools, primary and secondary schools, care homes and local book clubs.

Extensive online services are also available via the library website at www.donegallibrary.ie, and the Library Service also maintains a Doorstep

Delivery service for library members who wish to access reading material if they are not in a position to visit their local library in person.
