It has been a busy few weeks for members of Milford JuJitsu Club.
Senior coach Darran Nash and John Sweeney were invited to grade for their 4th Dan Black Belt at WJJF Ireland headquarters two weeks ago under the watchful eyes of National Senior Coach So-Shi David Toney and Shihan Peter Cook. So-Shi Toney said: “Darran and John not only led the club out of the (Covid) difficulties of the last few years, but, while doing so, they dug deep and managed to achieve what very few have managed.
“I have nothing but respect for both of them and wish to congratulate them on this excellent achievement.”
Darran and John were then presented with their belts at last weekend’s WJJF (World Ju Jitsu Federation) World Congress which was held in Ards, Co. Down this year. A number of Milford’s junior and senior club members were in attendance at the congress.
The event which is held every thre years had a lot of the top WJJF coaches in the world in attendance including head of WJJF Soke Spartaco Bertoletti from Italy.
Junior members got the chance to train in the morning session for three hours with international coaches and then the seniors trained in the afternoon.
Over 1,000 students and coaches from all over the world attended the event this year which was back in Ireland for the first time in ten years.
