Business leaders climb 26 of Ireland’s highest peaks for cancer charity

A TEAM of over 20 business leaders from across the island of Ireland and UK are over halfway through their 26 Mountains 2 Mayo challenge in aid of Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that empowers, connects and strengthens children, young people and families impacted by cancer across the island of Ireland.
Supported by Arachas Corporate Brokers, Ireland’s largest nationwide insurance broker and part of the Ardonagh Group, these ambitious leaders are climbing the highest point in each county across the island of Ireland with the aim of raising €1,000,000.
They kicked off their epic challenge by climbing Errigal, the tallest peak in Donegal.
They then covered the hills and mountains across Ulster, before moving into Connacht, across to Leinster and down to Munster.
Across the next few days they will be making their way back to Connacht to finish with Mweelrea on Sunday.
Dermott Doherty, MD, Arachas West, said: “Arachas is proud to sponsor 26 Mountains to Mayo supporting Cancer Fund for Children, helping young people and families impacted by cancer across the island of Ireland.
“Their stories have inspired our teams from Letterkenny to Cork to come together again to raise money for this worthy cause and for our Arachas Relay team to take on the arduous 26 Mountains Challenge. On a personal level, I am delighted that it started in Errigal and I enjoyed my climb on Cuilagh on Monday; I want to wish all the participants the best of luck for the rest of the challenge.”
