AN investigation has been launched after a bus was stolen from Letterkenny Bus Station and driven to Dublin City Centre.
The Bus Éireann bus was taken from Letterkenny Bus Station during the early hours of Monday morning around 12.45am.
After the theft in Letterkenny, the bus was driven to Dublin.
No passengers or staff were on board the vehicle at the time.
It is believed the bus was driven to Dublin without detection but was later recovered in Dublin City.
Bus Eireann and An Garda Siochana are carrying out an investigation into the incident.
A spokesperson for Donegal Gardaí said, “Gardaí are investigating the unauthorised taking of a vehicle that occurred on Ramelton Road, Letterkenny, Co.
Donegal at approximately 12:45am on Monday July 10 2023.
“The vehicle was later recovered in Dublin city, where it has since been removed for a technical examination.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
Bus Éireann has confirmed they are co-operating fully with the investigation and CCTV footage has been made available to Gardaí.
