Bus Éireann to investigate bus fire at Dry Arch

Bus Éireann has said an investigation will be launched to understand what caused a bus to catch fire on the Dry Arch Roundabout, Letterkenny at around 8.30pm last night.

Thankfully all 15 passengers on board and the driver evacuated safely.

In a statement Bus Éireann said the vehicle has been cleared from the road and a full investigation will be launched.

“A comprehensive and thorough investigation will be undertaken into the cause of this incident.  This is an exceptionally rare occurrence in our fleet.”

Passengers who were on board the coach were accommodated on another vehicle to continue their journey.

The state-owned bus operator thanked those involved for their speedy response.

“Bus Éireann would like to thank the emergency services, our driver and passengers for their rapid and effective response to the situation.”

Donegal TD Pearse Doherty also praised the emergency services for their response.
