Bus Éireann apologise over ‘ghost’ service

by Chris Ashmore

BUS Éireann has apologised for an error in a press release regarding a ‘ghost’ bus service from Dublin Airport to Letterkenny that does not exist.

A new timetable for the Expressway Route 32 service between Letterkenny and the capital, via Dublin Airport, was introduced yesterday (Sunday).

Announcing details of the updated timetable, the state transport company issued a press release that included a quote that said that “the previous 22:00 departure from Dublin Airport will instead depart at 22:30, better accommodating passengers arriving on late evening flights.”

However, an examination of the previous and the new timetable by the Donegal News discovered that neither a 22.00 nor the ‘new’ 22.30 departure from Dublin Airport are listed. There is no such service.

Having contacted Bus Éireann to inform it of this matter, the Donegal News was issued with a reply.

It stated: “Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, it is an error in the press release, which we apologise to our customers for any confusion caused.”

In the new timetable, there is a 21.38 departure from Dublin Airport to Letterkenny and also a new post-midnight departure at 00.38 to facilitate later night arrivals.
