Bundoran’s Waterworld set to splash again

A RECRUITMENT drive is underway at Waterworld in Bundoran following the announcement that the popular indoor water park is set to reopen in April.

Waterworld has been closed for two years due to Covid-19 but in a post on their Facebook, the facility announced they will be reopening on Saturday April 9.

The reopening comes just in time for Easter holiday makers and a full week earlier than previous years.

A spokesperson for the facility said it had been a ‘very odd couple of years’ but management has been receiving a lot of enquiries about opening in 2022.

Ahead of this, the water park is recruiting a large number of staff members for the 2022 season. Lifeguards, seaweed bath operators and therapists, complex assistants, complex supervisors, a duty manager and swim teachers  are all required.

The application process is currently open and essential requirements for the posts include minimum age of 16, ability to work in a team or on own initiative and ability to communicate effectively.

A new general manager was also recruited before Christmas.

Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth welcomed the news of the reopening and is hopeful the waterpark will bring people from all over the country to Donegal this summer.

“It is wonderful news that Waterworld is once again in a position to open and this year one week earlier than normal so guests can avail of the full two weeks of Easter to visit the facility which is the town’s largest indoor tourist attraction.

“We wish Anderson and the team all the best with their preparations for reopening in a few months time,” said Mr Smyth.
