Bundoran 2-19 MacCumhaills 1-8
By Frank Craig
Bundoran have qualified for the last eight of the Donegal club SFC following their 14-point hammering of MacCumhaills in Gaelic Park tonight.
The only blip on an otherwise superb evening for Francie Martin’s side was the straight red card issued to star attacker Jamie Brennan in added time. The county man became involved in something off the ball and he seemed to have no complaints as Connie Doherty sent him on his way.
Two first-half three-pointers from Brennan and Tommy Hourihane paved the way for this most easy of victories. The host led by six at the midpoint on a difference of 2-7 to 0-7. Brennan was the first to rattle the net when he took advantage of a woeful clearance from MacCumhaills out of defence.
On 23 minutes, the hosts raised a second green flag when Hourihane let fly from distance and his stinger crashed down and in off the underside of the crossbar.
Cian McEniff, Gary Clancy, Hourihane and Brennan were the men doing the damage on the points front for Bundoran as they exited with a firm grip on matters here.
After the restart, MacCumhaills looked to peg back the difference with the introduction of Marty O’Reilly who had been named on the bench for the visitors.
However, with the previous and usual suspects again a thorn in the Twin Towns’ side, and with the likes of Michael McEniff, Peter McGonagle, Paul Murphy and Shane McGowan all adding to the scoreboard, it’s Bundoran that advance along with St. Michael’s with MacCumhaills and Malin eliminated from the running.
Scorers:

MacCumhaills: Gary Wilson (0-4,1f), Rory Dunleavy (0-1), Gavin Gallagher (0-1), Stephen Mulligan (1-2,1f).
Referee: Connie Doherty (Naomh Conaill).
