Buncrana toddler drowns in Latvia

IT is being reported that a three-year-old boy from Buncrana has drowned while visiting his grandparents in Latvia.

Rolands Letins was visiting his parents’ native country when he drowned last week.

His parents, Janeks Kuzelis and Dace Letina, have lived in Buncrana for several years. They have one other son, who is 11.

Staff and management at the Cockhill Community Pre-school Rolands attended say they are numbed by the tragic loss.

A spokesperson for the pre-school said: “Rolands was a delightful little boy, and it was a privilege to have him here with us.
“The management and staff of Cockhill Community Pre-school are heartbroken at this tragic news. We are numbed by it.
“We have passed on our condolences to Rolands’ parents and his family.”

It is understood that Rolands, who was visiting his maternal grandparents in the town of Cesis, will be laid to rest in Latvia.
