Buncrana school launches free book scheme

Coláiste Chineál Eoghain has announced that all incoming first-year students will receive their subject textbooks free of charge.

Parents and guardians of children starting second-level education can expect to pay around €300, therefore this news will be a welcome relief to many families worried about back-to-school costs.

Most subject textbooks now cover the entire Junior Cycle so this free book scheme will see students through for their first three years at the school.

Transition Year Coordinator Dáire Ó Néill said, “It is a help to families who have enough worries during a cost-of-living crisis, and we want to help in every way we can”.

Coláiste Chineál Eoghain is Inishowen’s only post-primary Irish Medium school and has been going since 2007 with Claire Doherty as Acting Principal.
