The family who lost their lives in the Buncrana pier tragedy last year could not open the doors of their car, an pre-inquest hearing heard yesterday.
The first responders to the vehicle couldn’t open the submerged Audi Q7 jeep’s door when they reached the scene.
Sean McGrotty, 46, sons Mark, 11 and eight year old Evan died along with his mother-in-law Ruth Daniels, 57 and her 14 year old daughter Jodie Lee Tracey.
Their car plunged into the water at Lough Swilly on March 20, 2016.
Baby girl Rioanaghac-Ann was the only survivor of the tragedy, as she was passed out the window to safety to local man, Davitt Walsh.
A full inquest into the tragedy is due to take place at Buncrana Courthouse in November.
