TONIGHT Buncrana Cinema will screen a documentary on the Ardara Distillery, the home of Sliabh Liag Distillers.
The film tells the moving story of founder James Doherty’s return to Donegal to reclaim a long-lost style of Irish whiskey-making.
The feature-length documentary is directed by Paul McGuckin. Three years in the making, ‘Still, he waits’ is his first film.
Originally invited to capture archival footage, Paul quickly saw the potential for a deeper narrative.
Paul has been an image maker for 20 years, starting in photography before progressing to film.
As a documentary photographer he has worked on any exciting projects including being the commissioned artist for the City of Culture in Derry, he was also an Artist in Residence for a year at An Grianán Theatre and works as a lecturer on the Film and Media Production degree at Atlantic Technological University.
The event which will be held in Buncrana Cinema tonight, Thursday, November 6 at 8.15pm will include a question and answer session hosted by Daithí Ramsay, where he will sit down with Paul McGuckin and James Doherty.
