FIANNA Fáil councillor Ciaran Brogan is expected to be elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council this week.
The long-serving councillor will take over the post from Sinn Féin’s Cllr. Gerry McMonagle.
Cllr. Brogan is one of the county’s most experienced public representatives and is a former Mayor of Letterkenny and Cathaoirleach of Donegal Co. Council.
He has and continues to serve on numerous local authority committees and is also a member of the Regional Health Forum.
He has been a councillor since 1999.
It is understood that Cllr. Brogan will be nominated for the position by a party colleague and it is expected that he will be duly elected at the MD’s annual general meeting on Tuesday.
