POPULAR British comedians, Babatunde Aléshé and Finlay Christie have tried their hand at sea stack climbing in Donegal as part of a new tourism promotion.
The duo are fronting a Tourism Ireland campaign titled ‘Coast to Coast: The Scenic Route’ to highlight the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route’s staggering beauty and history.
Channel 4 and The Guardian are the two major media partners for the project as well as support from the Shared Island Tourism Brand Collaboration Project. The campaign will reach over 15 million people in Britain, with plenty of exposure on social media platforms. A 20 minute video released shows the two comedians sea stack climbing in Donegal and visiting Voya seaweed baths in Sligo.
They also visit the Causeway Coastal Route taking in the sights to see on the road. The comedian’s energy and enthusiasm hopes to bring in a new wave of tourists to Ireland.
The Guardian will be releasing a podcast with the comedians discussing the great outdoors, food, drink and slow tourism as well as articles and itineraries for the Coastal Routes found on their website.
Judith Cassidy, Tourism Ireland’s Acting Head of Great Britain, said, “The campaign will bring to life the wonderful experiences on offer along both routes.”
Aléshé remarked that Ireland is “such a beautiful country and such kind, joyous people.” Christie stated: “Ireland is a land familiar enough to soothe, but rich with its own wild character.”
The campaign is hoping to bring more tourism to the beautiful coast of our island.
