Donegal 1-16 Tyrone 0-15

Donegal are through to the Ulster Senior Championship Final after they produced a magnificent performance to defeat Tyrone in Cavan this evening.

Declan Bonner’s team started well and they were 1-3 to 0-3 up after eight minutes with Jamie Brennan contributing a goal and two points.

The game was nip-and-tuck over the next 20 minutes, but Donegal moved five clear after points from Michael Langan and Michael Murphy.

Shaun Patton was called into action to make two fine saves in the first half, and Bonner’s men led by 1-9 to 0-5 at the break after a strong finish to the first half.

Tyrone kicked the first two points after the restart and Ciaran Thompson spurned a goal chance for Donegal.

Murphy and Patrick McBrearty landed second half points, and they still led by five in the 56th minute.

Both teams tagged on two points apiece over the next three minutes, before McBrearty put six between them again with a lovely curling effort.

Tyrone added three points to their tally but they couldn’t find the goal they needed, and Stephen McMenamin’s late point ensured victory for Donegal.

Bonner’s men now advance to the Ulster Final, where they will play Cavan or Armagh on Sunday June 23.
