OVER 200 homes on Arranmore are without power tonight. Strong gusts tonight of up to 100-110kph cut power supplies on the island around 9pm.
Island spokesman, Jerry Early, said boats are not expected to run tomorrow or possibly Saturday.
“I laugh when I hear the comment, Arranmore isn’t really and island,” he said this evening.
So far this evening up to 1,000 homes across the county have been left without power due to the strong gusts.
In the Killygordon area more than 700 homes were hit with a further 300 in the Fanad Peninsula.
The storm follows a day of ice and snow chaos on many roads across the county.
