IT HAS emerged that a 13 year-old local boy was knocked down and killed outside Buncrana last night.
Gardai are investigating the incident which occurred at Ballymacarry on the main Buncrana to Carndonagh road at approximately 10.30 pm.
The boy’s father, who is in his 50s, was also injured in the incident and was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and also removed to LGH where a post mortem examination will take place later today.
The road is currently closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Examination.
