Brave Donegal beaten by Dublin

Donegal 2-7 Dublin 2-12

Donegal made a blistering start to their TG4 All-Ireland quarter-final today but Dublin just had too much class for them in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Maxi Curran’s team were determined and Geraldine McLaughlin scored 1-2 in the opening three minutes.

However, they didn’t score for the next 23 minutes, and Dublin hit 1-6 in that time.

Katy Herron did score a great goal late in the half and Donegal trailed by a point at the break.

Dublin were excellent at the start of the second half and they moved seven points ahead with Carla Rowe and Hannah Tyrrell to the fore.

Geraldine McLaughlin did reduce the deficit to five points with two frees, and that was still the margin between the sides with five minutes to go.

However, Donegal couldn’t get any closer than that and Dublin’s bid to win five in-a-row remains on track.

Donegal’s interest in the All-Ireland series is now over but they do have an Ulster Final with Armagh to look forward to.
