DONEGAL Senator Nikki Bradley has welcomed the announcement of funding totalling €53,100 for infrastructure improvements on Donegal’s offshore islands.
The funding is part of a wider €828,000 investment in island communities by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
The investment, confirmed by Minister Dara Calleary TD, will support essential capital works on Oileáin Bheaga and Uaigh (Owey), including upgrades to roads, piers, coastal protection and street lighting.
“This is welcome news for Donegal’s island communities who have long called for improvements to critical infrastructure,” Senator Bradley said.
“Investment like this strengthens not only access and safety but also the future sustainability of island life for residents and visitors alike.
“These communities are a vital part of our county’s identity and heritage.
“I am committed to ensuring that Donegal’s rural and island communities are not left behind. This funding is a strong step in the right direction.”
