A five-time Irish champion, McGinty won a bronze medal at the 2012 European Schoolboy Championships.

This year, he returns to the same Russian city, Anapa, has he won bronze there.

He sealed bronze following a 19-12 win over Armenia’s Gurgen Madoyan, having previously scored a 16-7 win over Israeli Michael Katz.

His fifth Irish title was won in March when he defeated Michael McDonagh from Ennis.

Both McGinty and Callaghan won box-offs to guarantee selection for the Championships.

“It wouldn’t be an experienced a team as the team that went to the World Championships. We’re giving our boxers the opportunity to gain experience at the top level internationally, “ he said.

Boxing begins in Anapa on November 9th.
