A book of evidence has been served on a man charged with the sexual assault of a woman.
The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, made no reply to Garda Gillian Page when he was served with the book at Letterkenny District Court. It is alleged that he did sexually assault a female on dates unknown between October 11, 2000, and October 10, 2003.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has consented for the accused to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court on October 28, Sergeant Jim Collins stated. Defence solicitor, Alison Parke, said she was seeking counsel and requested that legal aid be extended to consider a signed plea.
The accused was remanded on continuing bail with the case adjourned to September 22.
