Michael Murphy has brought the curtain down on an incredible intercounty career and how privileged we were to watch him wear the green and gold of Donegal.
I knew over the last couple of weeks that Michael was considering calling it a day, but it’s still difficult to envisage life without him in a Donegal jersey.
Michael owes the county nothing and has left an incredible legacy.
He set standards and drove them on in the Donegal dressing room. He was an absolute colossus for our county over the last 16 seasons.
I had the pleasure of working with him for five years, and every night he walked through the doors, he was there to try and push Donegal football forward.
People will talk about his brilliant performances on a Sunday, but we saw it every night of the week at training.
There was never any easing off or protecting himself. He trained every night like it was the All-Ireland Final.
