DONEGAL manager Declan Bonner has been boosted by the return of some talented young players to his senior squad for the 2020 season.
Cian Mulligan (Gaoth Dobhair), who scored championship goals against Cavan and Derry in 2018, will link up with the senior panel again after stepping away last season.
Conor Morrison (St Eunan’s) played in the first six games last season before opting to leave the squad in March, but the tigerish corner-back will be in the mix again next term.
Gaoth Dobhair’s Michael Carroll has earned a recall after some excellent displays in the middle of the field for his club in the Donegal SFC.
Moville’s Tony McClenaghan has struggled with a back problem over the last two years but after having surgery recently, returns to the fold.
Enda McCormick was first called into the Donegal senior panel when he was 19 under Rory Gallagher, but wasn’t in favour when Bonner took the reins. However, the Termon sharpshooter will now get a chance to showcase his talents.
The versatile Andrew McClean has been rewarded for his energetic displays for Kilcar with a call-up, while Aaron Deeney (St Eunan’s) is a highly-rated young defender who played with the Donegal Under 20’s last year and now moves up.
Conor O’Donnell Snr (St Eunan’s), joins his younger brother Niall in the panel, and he is best known as a half-back.
Another couple of players are expected to be given a chance to impress when the senior football panel are allowed to return to collective training from Sunday onwards.
Bonner is also said to be looking at goalkeeping options, while Naomh Conaill players will not be considered until their Club Championship run is complete. The Dr McKenna Cup draw is due to take place next Tuesday night.
