Bones found in Ballybofey forest identified as animal

AN investigation has found that bones discovered in a forest area in Ballybofey yesterday are not human.

Gardai have confirmed that the bones are those of an animal.

The area had been sealed off and Gardaí and the state pathologists carried out an investigation into the discovery which was made yesterday (Wednesday).

A Garda spokesperson said, “Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of bones in a forest in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal on the 19th May 2021.

“The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.

“The State Pathologists Office have also been notified.”
