THE recovery of a man’s body on Tullan Strand in south Donegal has prompted an investigation by gardaí, with post-mortem results set to determine the direction of their inquiry.
The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is suspected to have drowned after falling into the sea.
It is believed that he had been fishing off rocks near Roughey Cliffs earlier in the day. Gardaí say they were alerted at approximately 10:45am.
His body has since been transported to Sligo University Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
This will provide information to ascertain the exact cause of death and guide the subsequent steps of the investigation.
