The Garda Dog Unit was brought in on Thursday to assist a massive air, land and sea search which was launched last Monday.

Described as an intensively private man, he was only reported missing the previous day.

A search, co-ordinated from Milford Garda Station and involving the Coast Guard and volunteers from Donegal Mountain Rescue, was subsequently launched.

When last seen, he was wearing a grey woollen worn jumper, black worn suit trousers and black wellingtons. Mr Boyle is originally from Scotland, but moved to Ireland in the 1970s.

He had no access to any vehicle apart from a pedal bicycle which he used as a means of transport.

Anyone who knows anything about his last movements is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on 074-9153060 or Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
