Blaney insists poster is for public meeting

Fianna Fáil Senator Niall Blaney is insisting that posters erected this week are not ‘election posters’ but are instead advertising a public meeting in Letterkenny.

Posters for a meeting in the Silver Tassie Hotel on May 6 went up around the northern end of the county over the last few days.

It has been suggested they look like election posters promoting Senator Blaney who is standing for Fianna Fáil in the European elections – and that would be in breach of election rules because election posters are not allowed to be erected this early.
