The Black and Amber 4 For Aidan Road Race, held earlier this year in Letterkenny in memory of local man, Aidan McGlynn, raised a total of €5,000.
The proceeds from the event will be shared evenly between St Eunan’s GAA Club’s minor board and Letterkenny Athletic Club’s juvenile section.
On Sunday afternoon in the James McDaid Stand at O’Donnell Park, Kathy McGlynn, wife of the late Aidan McGlynn, and members of the McGlynn family, presented the cheque to representatives of St Eunan’s GAA Club and Letterkenny Athletic Club, following St Eunan’s opening game in the senior championship against Kilcar.
A popular and much-loved character, Aidan passed away on September 5th, 2024, from Motor Neurone Disease, aged 50.
The four-mile road race/walk that was held in February in association with Sister Sara’s Bar and Restaurant in Letterkenny, attracted an entry of 323.
The race was hosted jointly by St Eunan’s GAA Club and Letterkenny Athletic Club – two clubs Aidan had strong affiliations with.
The Black and Amber 4 For Aidan organising committee have indicated that they are planning to make the race an annual event on the local racing calendar.
