Birthday boy ‘Dotsy’ is 50 today!

He’s normally the man behind the camera capturing birthdays, celebrations and special occasions, but today he can enjoy being the centre of attention.

Letterkenny man Stephen ‘Dotsy’ Doherty turns 50 today – and we wish him a happy birthday.

The Glencar Irish man is a popular and much loved member of the An Post front counter team in Letterkenny where he has built up such a special relationship with his customers down through the years.

In his spare time, Dotsy is a keen photographer, specialising in sport and has a particular interest in covering underage teams and watching the progress of young players, many of whom have gone on to play at senior and League of Ireland level.

His photos are regularly featured in the local media here in Donegal, including the Donegal News.

A Manchester United supporter, Dotsy was a talented left back playing for Glencar schoolboys and Letterkenny Rovers. He was a member of a Letterkenny Rovers youth team who won the Donegal Youth League in 1990 and went all the way to the semi final of the FAI Youth Cup before losing out to Home Farm.

Knowing Dotsy, he won’t want a fuss on his big day – but from all of your friends Dotsy – have a Happy Birthday.
