The Ghostbusters and Caddyshack star is filming a new season of golf series The Links Life, to air on YouTube and other streaming platforms.

On the 70-year-old’s radar for the travel documentary is Portsalon, Cruit Island, Narin and Portnoo and the new St Patrick’s course at Rosapenna.

But while undoubtedly the biggest name by some stretch to visit Donegal this week, Murray is not the only celebrity in town.

 Tomorrow sees the starts of the Irish Legends Open in Rosapenna with a whole list of stars signed up.

Hosted by former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, the Open will see, among others, Niall Quinn, Jimmy Nesbitt, Ronnie Whelan and Robbie Fowler tee off in Downings.

Due to Covid, spectators cannot attend but Sky Television will be on course capturing all the moments that matter.

Paul McGinley has strong ties to Donegal as both his parents hail from the county.

Looking forward to three days of star-studded golf, he said, “Rosapenna is a brilliant venue and I know the players will enjoy the golf course which is a combination of nine holes from the original Old Tom Morris design, played along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, and nine holes designed and constructed a number of years ago by one of Ireland’s leading architects, Pat Ruddy.

“It is your typical links golf courses where wind will obviously be a factor and course condition will be excellent.”
