‘Big two’ set to meet in the SFC quarter-finals

The big two in the Donegal SFC will meet in a juicy quarter-final clash next week after defending champions Naomh Conaill and St Eunan’s were paired against each other in Sunday’s draw.

The teams know each other very well and Naomh Conaill got the better of the Letterkenny side last season in the semi-final on their way to winning the Dr Maguire Cup.

St Eunan’s did record a comfortable win over their rivals in the group phase last month but it is expected to be a tighter affair when the sides meet next week.

Glenswilly topped the group phase and they will take on Dungloe, who got past Downings last week.

St Michael’s will be without Michael Langan for the knock-out stages, and they will have a tough test without him against Kilcar.

Gaoth Dobhair and Four Masters will meet in the remaining game in what is a repeat of the first-round game this season which the Donegal Town side won well.

In the Intermediate Championship, Naomh Columba will face Malin at the last four stage, and Naomh Muire will be aiming to keep their good form going against Termon in the semi-finals.

Naomh Muire caused the upset of the weekend as they defeated Milford in Falcarragh, but they have been handed a tough clash with Termon.

Meanwhile in the Junior ‘A’ Championship semi-finals, Carndonagh will take on St Mary’s, Convoy and Naomh Ultan will square off with Naomh Padraig, Uisce Chaoin in what will be two eagerly-awaited contests.

In the Senior ‘B’ Championship quarter-finals, St Eunan’s will take on Glenswilly, Gaoth Dobhair will go head-to-head with MacCumhaill’s, Dungloe will meet Naomh Conaill, and Four Masters and Ardara will go to battle.

In the Intermediate ‘B’ Championship, Termon will take on Buncrana in a tasty fixture, while Burt and Malin will also play against each other.
