Biddy O’Barnes applauds emergency services for containing wildfires in Barnesmore Gap

A PUB situated on the roadside in scenic Barnesmore Gap has praised emergency services for their outstanding efforts in containing the recent wildfires.

Yesterday evening, staff from Biddy O’Barnes said they were “alarmed” to see a gorse fire across the road from the well-known pub.

The fire, which was first reported around 6pm, continued to spread last night and into the early hours of this morning.

With the majority of the blaze now under control, the Donegal pub expressed relief that homes, staff, and customers have remained safe.

“We want to express our deep gratitude to the Donegal and surrounding areas’ fire brigades and emergency services for their outstanding efforts in containing the blaze,” a spokesperson said.

“We’re incredibly relieved that the homes of our neighbours, staff, and customers remain safe.

“We can’t thank the emergency services enough, and we’re so grateful for the strength and support of our community during this time.”
