BARRY McNamee is set to sign a new deal with Derry City.
The 22-year-old Ramelton man had been expected to leave the Candystripes, but in a u-turn has agreed to commit to the Brandywell club.
McNamee had a recent trial at Skybet League One outfit Fleetwood Town, but that was cut short after he picked up an ankle injury.
The midfielder has also attracted interest from Sligo Rovers, but St Patrick’s Athletic had been the favourites to land his signature.
Liam Buckley is known to be a fan and held talks with the player after Pat’s overcame Derry in the FAI Cup final last month.
McNamee was angered after being left out of the City line-up for the final by boss Peter Hutton, and looked set to make his exit, but it is now understood that the former Swilly Rovers player will pen a new two-year deal on Foyleside.
