LUKE Barrett is expected to link up with the Derry senior football team for the 2026 season.
Barrett is a highly-rated coach who was involved with Donegal for the last two seasons, helping the county to collect the Anglo Celt Cup twice, as well as reaching the All-Ireland Final back in July.
The Milford man confirmed after the defeat to Kerry that he would be stepping away from the Donegal set-up.
He subsequently coached Loughmacrory as they won their very first Tyrone senior title last month.
New Derry manager Ciaran Meenagh and selector Marty Boyle were also part of the Loughmacrory coaching ticket.
It’s now expected that Barrett will link up with the pair once again with Derry. Chrissy McKaigue is also involved with the Oak Leaf management.
Derry had a disappointing 2025 but have good scope for improvement with a lot of exciting talent coming through.
