The Ireland National Woman’s Team suffered another narrow defeat on Saturday night after they lost 2-1 away to the Netherlands in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
Having lost to France on Tuesday night in Dublin, Ireland were looking to bounce back in Group A2.
However, Lineth Beerensteyn but the Dutch side ahead after 20 minutes of play which left them ahead at the break.
Carla Ward’s outfit were back on level terms five minutes after the restart as captain Katie McCabe netted her second goal in as many games, converting from the penalty spot.
However, Beerensteyn bagged her second goal of the game eight minutes from time to see Ireland come away empty handed for their efforts for a second time this week.
Milford’s Amber Barrett was introduced as a second half substitute by Carla Ward in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Anna Patten, who qualifies through her roots in Falcarragh, started the encounter and St Johnston’s Tyler Toland was an unused substitute on the day.
Ireland will return to competitive action in the middle of next month for a pair of fixtures against Poland where they’ll be seeking to register their first points of the campaign.
