Banks bags the winner for Sligo

Finn Harps 1-2 Sligo Rovers

Lewis Banks struck the winner as ten-man Sligo Rovers defeated Finn Harps in an eventful North West derby at Finn Park this evening.

It was Sligo who drew first blood with Romeo Parkes scoring in the sixth minute.

However, Harps hit back immediately with Adam Foley setting up Tunde Owolabi for a fine goal.

Owolabi was a handful in the first half but he spurned a couple of excellent chances and the sides were level at the break.

HT: Harps 1-1 Sligo

Sligo hit the front again in the 60th minute when Harps failed to clear the danger from Robbie McCourt’s corner, and Lewis Banks volleyed home.

The visitors were thrilled but their joy didn’t last long as Parkes was sent off two minutes later after a clash with Kosovar Sadiki.

Harps failed to use their numerical advantage effectively and they struggled to create chances.

They did go close in the 91st minute but Ed McGinty pulled off a stunning save from Sean Boyd and Sligo held on for all three points.
