Plan to improve Donegal’s ‘ghost estates’

A GOVERNMENT Report on unfinished housing estates made a series of recommendations which will affect Donegal’s 133 unfinished housing developments.

The 3,560 residential properties in the county referred to in the report include incomplete housing estates at Lisnennan, Foxhills, Bracken Lea, Errigal View, Fairways and Killylastin in the Letterkenny area.

Other estates include Lennon View, Coylin Court, and Lennon Grove (Ramelton), Grey Rocks, Glendallon Heights (Milford) and The Pines (Churchill).

Junior and Leaving Cert exams are underway

THERE was an air of relief outside the Loreto Secondary School in Letterkenny at lunch time on Wednesday as Junior and Leaving Certificate candidates emerged from their first examinations.

The Donegal News spoke to students who seemed generally pleased with the content of both higher and pass level English papers in both exams.

Armed robbery in Bridgend


GARDAI in Buncrana are investigating an armed robbery at Bridgend Post on Wednesday afternoon when a large sum of money was taken at gunpoint.

Two men entered the premises shortly after midday, threatened staff with a fire arm and left with a sum of money.

LATER this month a new television promo for national Irish language broadcaster RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will be filmed right here in County Donegal and they want you to join them.

Gleann Cholm Cille was chosen as the winner of a competition run by the station to find a location in which to record their upcoming TV promo which will be shot there on June 30


Celine is a 'kick ass' mother

Letterkenny based mother-of-two is living proof that there is a life out there for people who care for loved ones and this weekend she will be kicking some ass in the name of her fellow carers in Donegal and all around the country.

Celine McGee has dedicated most of her life caring for her daughter Nadine (13) who was born with the condition spina bifida. “Nadine has had 17 major operations, but in recent years her health has been generally good and it left me with some time to spare for myself,” she said.
