Jamesie celebrates on the double

DONEGAL hurler Jamesie Donnelly is having to pinch himself to make sure he is not imaging things as he sits in his Brockagh home and reflects back on an eventful seven days.

The 27-year-old MacCumhaills defender played a pivotal role as Donegal finally won an All Ireland hurling title at Croke Park on Saturday last before dashing back home to attend the birth of his first child, Ella May.


Ward wins National title


Letterkenny boxer Eddie Ward claimed his first All-Ireland title at Super-Heavyweight by defeating Thomas Conroy of Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo on a scoreline of 11-7 on Saturday last in the National Stadium, Dublin.

Eddie got off to a great start in the opening round by catching the strong Connaught boxer with stiff double left jabs and straight right hands to finish the round 4-1 ahead.

Boyce targets 2012 Olympics

Brendan Boyce has set his sights on cementing a place on the Irish Athletics team at next year’s Olympic Games in London.
The Milford Athlete, currently studying at Leeds Metropolitan University, shook off a serious knee injury that curtailed his progression early in the year to produce a phenomenal performance in a 20K event at the European Cup of Racewalking in Portugal last weekend.
