A month-long celebration of local craft makers across Ireland is well underway and this August Craft Month a host of exciting events are taking place in Donegal.
Celebrating the vibrant local craft scene, people will have the chance to experience exhibitions and workshops across a variety of crafts right on their doorstep as well as supporting local makers by buying products and learning more about their work.
Locally, the Donegal Design Makers are showcasing an exhibition ‘Handmade Tales’ at their collective shop or gallery on Front Street, Ardara until Thursday, August 31, 10am to 5:30pm Monday – Saturday.
This collection of works from 14 Donegal makers includes ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print/artworks, soapworks, photography and lighting.
You can also join Ceramic artist Maria Connolly in her studio on Tuesday, August 15 from 10.30am to 5pm.
The full day workshop will offer detailed insight to the techniques and share the process of monoprinting the clay.
Participants can also explore colour using coloured slips, imagery and pattern using stencils and mark making while making a series of tiles that can be framed or hung directly onto the wall as one off outworks.
