ATU Students’ Union team raise more than €5,000 for charities

THE students’ union team of Atlantic Technology University Donegal has raised more than €5,000 for two charities – the highest to date series of fundraisers.

Outgoing President of ATU Donegal, Barry Breslin has praised the team for all their hard work and achievements as the academic year of 2023/2024 has come to a close.

Every year the Students’ Union puts forward a list of charities from which students choose a local and national charity to support.

This year, students chose Good and New (locally), while the national charity of their choice was Barretstown – a childhood charity which supports seriously ill children.

“Through various events and fundraisers we were able to raise our highest amount ever with €5,141.30. We split that 50/50 and presented the cheque to both charities.

“Our efforts this year comprised of selling our SU merchandise, RAG Raffle, Pool table earnings, Spin the Wheel and many others. We’re super grateful for all the money that was raised by all at ATU Donegal this year.”

Barry added: “Unfortunately, this is also a goodbye from the 23/24 SU team as we fill our term. It has been a great joy and honour to serve the students of ATU Donegal. We wish the very best for the incoming team.”
