A KERRYKEEL man has been returned for trial charged with two counts of assault.
Garda Pauline Doherty gave evidence of meeting Kane McLaughlin by arrangement to serve the Book of Evidence on him at Letterkenny courthouse on Monday.
McLaughlin (23), 6 Knockalla Close, Kerrykeel, is charged with Section 3 assault on Lower Main Street, Letterkenny on February 20, 2022. He is further charged with Section 3 assault at High Road, Letterkenny, in June 5, 2022.
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to the accused being sent forward for trial.
Judge Emile Daly administered the alibi warning. Solicitor for the accused, Mr Patsy Gallagher sought one counsel. Legal aid was also granted to Mr Gallagher.
McLaughlin was remanded on continuing bail on the same terms and conditions as previously set down by the court.
The accused was returned for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in February, 2026.
