A FORMER patient at Letterkenny University Hospital who returned with a gift of a painting, said she wanted to share a small piece of beauty as a way of saying thanks for the care she received.

Artist Vivienne Byrne Baruch paid a visit back to the hospital on Friday to present her painting 

in appreciation for the excellent care provided by the Letterkenny Renal Unit and staff. 

The painting is titled ‘Keep Dancing’ and derived its name from Brian Friel’s play set in Donegal – ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ – through interesting times, both good and bad, the woman danced on.  

The painting now hangs at the start of the hallway that leads to the large conference room on the ground floor of LUH, where it can be enjoyed by patients, visitors and staff. 

At the presentation, Mrs Byrne Baruch said, “I’m incredibly grateful for the care, compassion and professionalism I received during my time at Letterkenny University Hospital.

“I would like to thank the nurses, doctors, secretarial staff, catering and cleaning staff who look after the patients so well. This painting is a way of saying thank you to the staff and sharing a small piece of beauty with those who pass it in the hospital.” 

Seán Murphy, Hospital Manager at Letterkenny University Hospital said, “We are truly honoured to receive this donation from Vivienne. Art can bring great comfort and joy to patients and staff and this beautiful piece will have a lasting impression on all who see it.”
