Fanad United were crowned as Champions of the Brian McCormick Sports Premier Division on Sunday afternoon on home soil in what was an historic day for the club.
Going toe-to-toe with defending Champions Kilmacrennan Celtic, only one defeat all season has put Arthur Lynch’s side on top of the tree with a points tally that can’t be matched with just one game to go.
Fanad United defeated Castlefin Celtic 1-0 to seal the silverware and just a quick glance through Fanad’s history will tell you that this new addition will be perched nicely among their collection of past achievements.
After the match, Arthur Lynch spoke of his delight to get over the line in this competitive competition.
“Another trophy and we are just delighted to get it and to carry on the tradition that’s here,” he said.
