WELL-known Donegal artist Samantha Robinson’s latest exhibition opened at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny last Tuesday, October 21, and will run until to Friday, November 21, and is open week days from 9.30am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 6pm.
This exhibition features child friendly art from local painter Samantha Robinson. Enter through the haze of daydream and children’s imaginations, past bold colours and tactile fabrics and you’ll find yourself in Samantha Robinson’s world of Art for Your Children.
This exhibition of her latest collection invites you into a world of beautiful fantasy and to explore the world of art through the eyes of your children.
The Chef.
Samantha Robinson studied at Chelsea College of Art, graduating in 1999 and since then has been creating one-of-a-kind pieces combining print, hand drawing and paint.
With such a dynamic imagination and having children herself, Robinson happily fell into the world of children’s art as that’s where her heart lies.
Younger eyes and untarnished imaginations see art in an entirely new way and so Art for your children was born in 2008. Although a relatively new company, Robinson has already collected an impressive fan base including people like Gwen Stefani.
Sweet Dreams.
Using an eclectic mix of techniques, Robinson creates beautiful artworks that will bring life and excitement to any child’s room.
The paintings are created using a myriad of different fabrics, paint, ink, hand drawing, glittered embellishments, buttons, wax and glow in the dark touches. Each piece is a collage layered with texture and colour lovingly crafted by Robinson in her studio.
Some of the more intricate pieces are a once off but repeats can be made on certain pieces upon request. Many can also be personalised with your child’s name, birthday or a phrase that means the most to you.
Robinson dedicates her time and work to creating the perfect piece to suit every child. The paintings come in a variety of sizes ranging from 4’x6’ to 5ft x 5ft but despite the dramatic difference in size within the collection, each unique piece will transform any room into an imagination haven. ADORN EXHIBITION
On Thursday night an exhibition of unique accessories by the Donegal Designer Makers was launched at their Pop Up shop at Main Street, Ardara.
Adorn, which will run until November 21, is being run by Donegal Designer makers, a network of 25 studio-based makers from all over Donegal who will showcase an eclectic mix of accessories from 11 of the network’s leading designer makers.
Following on from the success of their summer exhibition, Adorn will focus on the One-Off special hand-made piece we aspire to owning.
