ARRANMORE RNLI carried out two medical evacuations over the weekend, one on Saturday and one yesterday.
On each of the two days the voluntary crew of lifeboat Myrtle Maud responded to the two calls to assist in transferring patients to Burtonport to awaiting ambulances to take them to Letterkenny University Hospital.
The first on Saturday came at 3pm.
However, yesterday morning the crew’s pagers alerted them to the emergency at 4am.
Both Arranmore RNLI coxswains Sean O Donnell and Jimmy Early thanked the crew for their speedy response.
“As a twenty four hour emergency service we rely on these volunteers to help save lives. Also, thanks to the ambulance service who provide an excellent service to the people of Arranmore. We would like to wish both casualties a speedy recovery,” they said.
